If you answer ‘Yes’ to any of the following questions, you don’t need a visitor visa. If you answer ‘No’ to all of the questions, you will have to apply for a visitor visa.
- Are you a New Zealand or Australian citizen?
- Do you hold a New Zealand resident visa or a New Zealand permanent resident visa?
- Do you have a current Australian permanent residence visa or a current Australian resident return visa? (If you hold an Australian temporary or provisional residence visa, then you will need a visitor visa).
- Are you:
- a diplomat or do you carry out certain roles in a consular office (see section H2.1 of our Operational Manual for definition)
- part of the military personnel (see M2)
- a cruise ship passenger who meets certain time and destination requirements (see E2.95.5)
- an aircraft crew member on any commercial aircraft flying between any other country and New Zealand, for seven days beginning with the day on which the aircraft arrived in New Zealand (see E2.95.5), or
associated with a Contracting Party to the Antarctic Treaty and other Antarctic travellers (see V3.50).
- Are you from a visa-waiver country, and intending to visit for no more than your allotted time of three months (or six months if you are from the United Kingdom)

By Car – Take Holyman Avenue until you come to the Tasman Highway roundabout. At the roundabout take the second exit onto Tasman Highway (for approximately 10 kilometres; please note the speed limit is 110 km) until you come to the end of Tasman Highway. Stay on the left hand lane (please note speed limit drops to 70 km) as you get to the start and over the Tasman Bridge. Continue on the left lane and take the Hobart City exit off the Tasman Bridge. As you get closer into the city (approximately 2 km’s from the bottom of the Tasman Bridge) get onto the middle lane and soon as you pass the Liverpool Street exit stay on the extreme right hand side lane. As you progress you will pass a 9/11 wine and bottle shop and soon as you pass Evan Street intersection (this is one corner of the hotel) you begin to see the main entrance driveway of the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart.
Taxi cost is roughly from $45.00 per transfer from the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart to the Hobart Airport
Car parking is available (limited) for conference delegates and is located under the hotel at an additional cost. Access to the car park is from the rear of the building on Macquarie Street. From the hotel’s main entrance, drive along Davey street which is one way and then turn right on Argyle Street and immediately right again onto Macquarie Street.

It is suggested that delegates arrive at preferred sessions promptly to ensure a seat. If sessions become full then late delegates will not be allowed entry.
All delegates, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors will be provided with a name badge, which must be worn at all times within the conference venue, as it is required for access to all the conference sessions and social functions.
Please collect your name badge at the conference registration desk located at the Mezzanine Level of the Hotel Grand Chancellor.
Delegates will have access to complimentary WiFi for the duration of the conference. Please note that movies, music or illicit downloads are restricted. It is not designed for accessing VPNs or downloading large files.

In the lead-up to the Conference small updates will be made to the program. See the latest version on the website . Any changes to the Conference program during the Conference will be announced during housekeeping notices each morning. You may also check with Leishman Associates staff at the registration desk.
Delegates are not permitted to use any type of camera or recording device at any of the sessions unless written permission has been obtained from the relevant speaker.
A photographer will be taking photos throughout the conference. These photos will be available from the conference website shortly after the event or from Leishman Associates, the Conference Managers.
If you do not wish to have your photo taken and or published in future marketing material and/or please advise the registration desk staff and the photographer if you are approached for a photo.
As an equity and diversity initiative in support of delegates with parenting or caring responsibilities, a private room will be available at the conference venue for parents with young children. Live audio from the Plenary, along with presenter PowerPoint presentations, will be available to view from this room. Please note that this room will not be staffed. Attendees are not permitted to utilise this room for babysitting services.
The members of the conference organising committee and Leishman Associates accept no liability for personal accident of loss or damage suffered by any participant, accompanying person, invited observer or any other person by whatever means. Nor do we accept liability for any equipment or software brought to the conference by delegates, speakers, sponsors or any other party. Please protect your personal property. Do not leave laptops, cameras, and other valuable items unsecured. Be conscious of individuals who appear out of place and do not wear a conference name badge. Advise Leishman Associates staff if this does not occur.

All morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea is provided each day. All food at each social function is included, if you are attending.

The Conference Dinner is an additional cost dependent upon which dinner option you select. Upon registration for the AGTA 2017 Conference you will receive a registration confirmation which will list all social functions you are registered for. Speaker, Chairperson or Poster Presenter
Chairpersons will receive an email prior to the Conference, reminding them of their responsibilities. If you are a chairperson and do not receive this, or have additional questions, please contact Emma Harrison at Leishman Associates (03 6234 7844)
All speakers should present themselves to the Speakers Preparation Room, located on the Mezzanine Level at least 4 hours before their scheduled presentation time, to upload their presentation.
Speakers are requested to assemble in their session room 5 minutes before the commencement of their session, to meet with their session chair and to familiarise themselves with the room and the audio visual equipment.

A technician will be present in the speakers’ preparation room during registration hours. There will be facility to test and modify your presentation as required.
All authors are asked to be alongside their poster during their designated poster session. The Poster Session is marketed as an opportunity for delegates to approach the author of the poster and ask questions or discuss any element of the information displayed. All poster presenters will be emailed a set of guidelines and their presentation date. If you did not receive this, please email Emma Harrison.
Posters must be no larger than AO (1189mm high x 841mm wide) portrait. We encourage presenters to provide their own Velcro ‘hooks’ to display the posters. Presenters must bring their poster with them to the Conference and advise Leishman Associates staff at the registration desk when they arrive.
You can book your accommodation through the online registration form or by emailing Emma Harrison. You will be asked to provide your check-in and check-out date as well as your credit card details to secure the booking. Payment for your accommodation will not be taken until you check in or out of the Hotel. Delegates are encouraged to book in advance as availability closer to the Conference date is not guaranteed.
When you book your accommodation your credit card details will be transferred to the hotel you have selected – please confirm this on check in with your hotel. Your credit card will not be charged until you check out. If you have arrived 24 hours later than your indicated arrival day you may find that you have forfeited your deposit.
Please email Emma Harrison to cancel or change your accommodation prior to the Conference. If you need to cancel your accommodation booking within 30 days of your arrival date any cancellation fees will be subject to the hotel cancellation policy. Therefore, no accommodation refund can be guaranteed within 30 business days of the Conference. If you alter your accommodation booking after you have checked in, please deal directly with the hotel. If you arrive 24 hours later than your indicated arrival day, charges will apply.
Cancellation and Disclaimer
Cancellations must be received in writing – mail, email or fax – to Leishman Associates. Cancellations will not be deemed to be received until you have written confirmation from Leishman Associates. If you have not received acknowledgement within two business days, please contact Leishman Associates on (03) 6234 7844.Cancellations postmarked on or before, 1 month before the Conference, will incur a fee of 50% of the registration amount. No refunds will be made for cancellations for the Conference postmarked after 1 month before the Conference, however substitutions may be accepted.
AGTA reserves the right to amend or alter any advertised details relating to dates, program and speakers if necessary, without notice, as a result of circumstances beyond their control. All attempts have been made to keep any changes to an absolute minimum.
